Giving Back to the Community
Personally donating to the community
I have decided that I will donate $10,000 per quarter ($40,000 pa) out of my parliamentary salary to not-for-profit organisations in the Macedon electorate. This will occur every quarter while I am the Member for Macedon. A Member of Parliament gets a good salary, so I feel that it’s only fitting that I give back a significant part of that salary to worthy not-for-profit organisations in my community.
The $10,000 per quarter will be spread across several organisations and I anticipate that recipients will be selected following an application process, and after consultation with local community groups.
Details will be finalised if I am elected; however the quarterly donation of $10,000 won’t change.
I’ll also encourage local businesses to match my donations if they can, and I’ll publicly acknowledge those businesses when they do.
Such personal donations from my own pocket show that I have no self-interest in being a Member of Parliament, but a genuine interest in helping to enhance our community and turn Victoria around.
