Giving Back to the Community

Personally donating to the community

  • I have decided that I will donate $10,000 per quarter ($40,000 pa) out of my parliamentary salary to not-for-profit organisations in the Macedon electorate. This will occur every quarter while I am the Member for Macedon. A Member of Parliament gets a good salary, so I feel that it’s only fitting that I give back a significant part of that salary to worthy not-for-profit organisations in my community.

  • The $10,000 per quarter will be spread across several organisations and I anticipate that recipients will be selected following an application process, and after consultation with local community groups.

  • Details will be finalised if I am elected; however the quarterly donation of $10,000 won’t change.

  • I’ll also encourage local businesses to match my donations if they can, and I’ll publicly acknowledge those businesses when they do.

  • Such personal donations from my own pocket show that I have no self-interest in being a Member of Parliament, but a genuine interest in helping to enhance our community and turn Victoria around.
